About Me

Hi! I’m Melinda. I live in Oceanside, CA with my husband and three children. I graduated Cum Laude in violin performance from the University of Utah. I have been playing the violin for over 40 years. Over the years, I have performed and recorded with several artists including Peter Breinholt, Kenneth Cope, Paul Cardall, and Colors as well as religious artists such as Thomas Baggaley and Garth Smith. I have also performed with many chamber ensembles and symphonic groups. Currently, I perform with the La Jolla Symphony.

About My studio

I teach a variety of students with different needs, ages, and backgrounds. I expect students to commit to weekly lessons, a regular practice schedule, and to participate in two recitals per year, usually held in April and November. I teach traditional violin method, drawing from many resources and method books, including Suzuki method, etude, scale, and theory books. Although, I teach with classical music as a foundation, I also want students to enjoy playing! I am always open to working on pieces they are interested in other genres such as rock or fiddle music.
